Scotsdale Golf Course in Bella Vista, Arkansas is the most unique, dramatic, and beautiful of the seven golf courses that are under the auspices of the Bella Vista Property Owners Association. Fully open to visitors, the course sits in a wooded Northwest Arkansas valley that showcases stunning views of the mountains and the flat range of the Ozarks' Springfield Plateau. Numerous tee boxes a few of which sit on ridgelines present jaw-dropping long vistas. Scotsdale Golf Course is not long driver will stay in the bag on most holes for many players. The layout, a Tom Clark-Bill Love design from 1987, provides an exciting but manageable challenge with its generous fairways. Though it was carved out of a forest, the playing field is pleasantly roomy. Five sets of tee markers enable players to take on this par-72 playing field from as short as 4,001 yards up to as long as 6,785 yards. A creek twists through the flatter and more open front nine at Scotsdale Golf Course, as it comes into play on every hole. A renovation project completed on the front nine in 2021 has improved the fairway turf and the greens, which now?boast Champion Bermuda grass. You ll also notice Scottish links-style bunkering throughout the round. Scotsdale Golf Course usually earns its raves for its back nine that features a collection of highly varied and scenic holes routed on rollercoaster terrain. Water only enters the fray on three holes on the back, but you must also hit over ravines. The changes in elevation on the back nine can lead to blind shots and make club selection a guessing game. Scotsdale Golf Course's elevated and undulating greens roll quite fast compared to the putting surfaces on Bella Vista's other courses. The layout is walkable, especially on the front nine, but you ll be battling uphill and downhill terrain if you try to hoof it on the back nine. Highlighting the practice facilities are two ranges a 250-yard-long driving range that runs uphill, and a short game area where you can hit up to 100-yard pitch shots and work on your bunker skills. The small clubhouse features a golf shop with an array of logo merchandise and a small bar that serves brats, hotdogs, sandwiches as well as beverages. The place to enjoy them is out on the deck. Scotsdale Golf Course is as fun, sporty, and scenic a course as you ll find in Northwest Arkansas. With its very reasonable green fees, it s a value-packed tee time not to be missed in Bella Vista.
